Faint D Ring

Not all of Saturn's rings are created equal: here the C and D rings appear side-by-side, but the C ring, which occupies the bottom half of this image, clearly outshines its neighbor. // www.nasa.gov

Celestron 9.25″ (2300mm/f10)

Hubble Zooms in on Shrapnel from an Exploded Star

NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has unveiled in stunning detail a small section of the expanding remains of a massive star that exploded about 8,000 years ago. //  www.nasa.gov

3-D Flyover Visualization of Veil Nebula
This 3-D visualization flies across a small portion of the Veil Nebula as photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope. This region is a small part of a huge expanding remnant from a star that exploded many thousands of years ago. Hubble resolves tangled rope-like filaments of glowig gases. The 3-D model has been created for illustrative purposes and shows that that the giant bubble of gas has a thin, rippled surface.

Video Zoom into Veil Nebula
This video opens with a backyard view of the nighttime sky centered on the constellation Cygnus, the Swan. We zoom into a vast donut-shaped feature called the Veil Nebula. It is the tattered expanding bubble of debris from a star that exploded about 8,000 years ago. The bubble has expanded to a diameter of roughly 110 light-years.

Successful Heat Shield Testing for Future Mars Exploration Vehicles

As NASA missions to Mars progress with science and complex human exploration missions, spacecraft will require larger heat shields to protect against the extreme heat of entering a planet's atmosphere and decelerating at a safe altitude in the thin Martian atmosphere. // www.nasa.gov

Rocket stage separation seen from the outside for the first time ever
For the first time in history, a company has captured in video the exact moment in which two rocket stages separate in space, from outside the rocket itself. This stunning video was captured on November 6, 2015 by UP Aerospace. The company “successfully executed a mission for NASA to deploy the Maraia Earth Return Capsule.

Год жизни Солнца в шесть минут:

SDO: Year 6 Ultra-HD
The sun is always changing and NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory is always watching. Launched on Feb. 11, 2010, SDO keeps a 24-hour eye on the entire disk of the sun, with a prime view of the graceful dance of solar material coursing through the sun's atmosphere, the corona. SDO's sixth year in orbit was no exception.
