First SLS Flight Engine Test
NASA engineers at Stennis Space Center tested RS-25 engine No. 2059 on the A-1 Test Stand this week. This was the first flight engine for NASA’s new rocket, the Space Launch System (SLS), to be tested at Stennis. RS-25 engine No. 2059 arrived at the A-1 Test Stand at Stennis Space Center on Nov. 4, 2015.

Alexandrc> RS-25 test
А, вот, интересно, когда в США планируют возобновлять производство SSME?
Технологии не утрачены? Сейчас у них есть 16 двигателей, чего достаточно для 4 пусков. Если верить википедии, это примерно до 2028 года. А дальше как?

Space Launch System Carries CubeSat Explorers During First Mission
The Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion spacecraft will not only take people on the most distant journeys to date but also open new frontiers for science and technology missions to deep space destinations. This animation shows how the SLS will transport CubeSats as secondary payloads on the Orion stage adapter during its first mission.

Building Up the Avionics System for SLS – in Just 60 Seconds
This time-lapse video shows how a half-ring structure at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, is being built to test the avionics system that will guide the world's most powerful rocket, the Space Launch System, on deep-space missions, including Mars. The complex avionics system, housed in the SLS core stage, is made up of computers, software and related hardware systems.

Precision Meets Progress in Welding on SLS Liquid Oxygen Tank Hardware
A liquid oxygen tank confidence article for the world’s most powerful rocket, NASA’s Space Launch System, completes final welding on the Vertical Assembly Center at Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans. The liquid oxygen tank is one of two tanks that make up the SLS core stage. Towering more than 200 feet tall with a diameter of 27.6 feet, the core stage will store cryogenic liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen that will feed the vehicle’s RS-25 engines.

ulalaunchThis morning, the ULA-built Interim Cryogenic Propulsive Stage (ICPS) Structural Test Article (STA) left ULA's Decatur, AL, factory on its way to @NASA_Marshall. ULA's team completed the STA in Oct 2015. At Marshall, the STA will be assembled with other elements of the SLS for structural testing in late 2016. The ICPS will be the Block 1 upper stage for Exploration Mission 1 (EM-1).
